"I had a stubborn problem with some graphics that just wouldn't sit on the pages where I wanted them to. The worst aspect is, I'm working with Word 97 through circumstances beyond my control. Sunny took the trouble to describe how to fix things, even sending screenshots of how the settings should be. Unfortunately, the dialog boxes and tabs and so forth in this old ancient antique software didn't provide the places for me to make settings matching what I was shown.

Along the way, I also got help and advice on several other aspects of the formatting process that had been mysterious. When I got it down to where there was only 1 problem left, one graphic that stubbornly refused to act right, I sent the whole file to Sunny and he fixed it, so now the book block is perfect."

The ins and outs of file preparation were the most frustrating part of my self-publishing experience. I was already fatigued from doing the writing and editing work. Having to wrestle with Microsoft Word and PDF settings was like a cruel uncreative joke at the end of a long and arduous process.
